I Thought I Was Healed

I thought I was healed

When I made boundaries like blockades

So nobody could come in

Or out.

I thought I was healed

When I was no longer willing to compromise

I called that self-love.

I went from a girl with a heart so open

She gave too much

To a woman who had nothing left to give.

The people I met were mirrors,

I ran from my reflection again and again

And claimed the fault lay with them.

Now

In this gift of space

I am grateful for this opportunity to expand

I am grateful for the inner journey

I am grateful for the release of tears

I am grateful for the poignant vulnerability of this awakening.
