Today I had the honour of holding a ceremony for a mother and dear little baby who was lost to miscarriage, who left the womb far too early. Pain and grief can all be supported by ceremony that acknowledges how momentous our loss is.
Through ceremony, we can find meaning and beauty in the darker human experiences, can be reminded that we are held and whole. Some souls only come here to experience unconditional love, to experience being in a womb, then they are off on their next journey… and we are left with a heart broken open.
So we went to the coast to set the little one free, the sea water like the amniotic fluid, making the passage from human mother to ocean mother.
And miraculously, Holy Mother sent us starfish friends to welcome them home. The breathtaking beauty of it all. The realisation of the interconnectedness we all share. The gift of seeing the starfish after so many years.
